Israel to build new wall on border with Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israel plans to construct a large border wall along its border with Syria, an Israeli channel said on Monday.

According to Israeli Channel 14, the wall is designed to significantly hinder potential infiltrations by “terrorists” who will try to enter Israel in the future. The wall includes a double fence, a mound, and ditches.

Channel 14 added that construction is expected to begin in the near future, highlighting that the Israeli army views threats from the Syrian and eastern borders as serious concerns.

The channel also reported that the new wall will be an addition to the existing border fence, strengthening the defense on the Syrian border, which will be equipped with additional technological and intelligence gathering means.

Additionally, the Israeli forces will carry out engineering works in the Syrian border area to allow for a better fortification of the area.

On Oct. 11, Israeli forces advanced into Quneitra Governorate, southern Syria, annexing new areas into Israel, a local source told North Press.

The source said that the Israeli forces entered the village of Kodana in the southern countryside of Quneitra, advancing 500 meters into Syrian territory, accompanied by bulldozers and armored vehicles mounted with machine guns.
