Trump suggests renaming Strait of Hormuz ‘Trump Strait’
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on Wednesday that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz and suggested renaming the strategic waterway the “Trump Strait.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Now that we have it under U.S.A. control, should we change the name Hormuz Strait to TRUMP STRAIT???”
“Like America itself, it would be ‘hotter’ than ever before!” he added.
Trump has repeatedly claimed that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing conflict with Iran, while Iran disputes the claim. (KATU)
The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and is a major route for global energy shipments.
