QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced on Thursday its decision to raise the Syrian independence flag over all its institutions.

Symbol of Resistance

The new flag, widely known as the symbol of the uprising against former President Bashar Assad, will now fly over all councils, institutions, and facilities under AANES.

A Step Toward Unity

In a statement, the Democratic Peoples’ Council of AANES said, “Since the regions of North and East Syria are an integral part of Syrian geography and home to indigenous Syrian communities, the council has decided to raise the Syrian independence flag on all affiliated entities.”

The council reaffirmed its commitment to representing the aspirations of all Syrian people and fostering national unity. “We aim to build a democratic Syria based on justice and equality for all its components,” the statement added.

A Unifying Gesture

This decision comes at a time of significant political transition in Syria and is seen as a step toward inclusivity and a broader representation of the Syrian people’s diverse identities and aspirations.
