AANES congratulates Syriacs of NE Syria on Akitu
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) congratulated on Thursday the Syriac, Assyrian and Chaldean people on the occasion of the Akito Day, wishing that peace would prevail all over Syria.
“We congratulate the Syriac, Assyrian, and Chaldean people in Syria in general, and in NE Syria in particular on this historical occasion,” the AANES said in a statement.
Akitu is “the symbol of resurrection,” the AANES added.
The first of April of each year marks Akitu, which is celebrated by Assyrians, Syriacs, and Chaldeans as a day of revival and resurrection. The celebration of the Assyrian New Year dates back to the first Babylonian Assyrian dynasty, or the beginning of the second millennium B.C.
The AANES wished that stability and security prevail in the region and that all communities to live in love and peace.
