Israeli report reveals details of Syria-Israel talks
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – An Israeli report published on Wednesday revealed details of a recent meeting between Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and Mossad chief Roman Gofman in Jordan.
The meeting was held Sunday as part of U.S.-mediated efforts to ease tensions between Syria and Israel, Reuters reported, citing Syria’s state news agency SANA. (Reuters)
According to the Israeli report, Syria and Israel agreed to continue dialogue under U.S. sponsorship. The discussions focused on halting Israeli attacks, arrests and targeting operations in Syria and reviving negotiations toward a security agreement.
The talks also addressed efforts to support stability in Syria and prevent tensions between Israel and Türkiye from affecting Syrian territory.
SANA reported that the Syrian delegation included senior intelligence officials, while the Israeli side was represented by a high-level delegation. The talks came after a recent Israeli strike on the Abu al-Duhur airbase in northern Syria. (Al Jazeera)
