Damascus International Fair opens 63rd edition
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The 63rd Damascus International Fair opened on Wednesday in Damascus, attended by President Ahmad al-Sharaa, ministers, officials, business leaders, and prominent cultural and social figures.
According to Muhammad Hamza, director of the General Establishment for Exhibitions and International Markets, the 63rd edition marks a shift in the fair’s role from simply showcasing products to becoming an integrated platform for business, investment, and connecting companies with decision-makers and markets.
Hamza told several media outlets that the first three days, from Aug. 26 to 28, are dedicated to official delegations, business leaders, and investors, with programs for business-to-business meetings and discussions between the business sector and government bodies.
The edition also includes a high-level inaugural economic session titled “The Road to the Damascus World Economic Forum,” reflecting an effort to establish a sustainable economic path extending beyond the duration of the fair, according to Hamza.
The first Damascus International Fair was held in September 1954, following a decision in 1953 to organize the event. It was later formally designated as the Damascus International Fair under a 1955 law.
