Syrian army says it thwarts two drug-smuggling attempts
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian army said it thwarted two attempts to smuggle narcotics from Lebanon into Homs and Damascus countryside.
The army said on Tuesday that its forces intercepted shipments containing drugs, crystal methamphetamine and hashish in the Tal Kalakh area of Homs countryside and Ras al-Maara in the Qalamoun region.
State media reported that one person involved in the smuggling was arrested and would be referred, along with the seized materials, to the relevant authorities.
On July 27, the Anti-Narcotics Administration in Damascus countryside also said it thwarted an attempt to smuggle a shipment of narcotics from Lebanon, seizing 850,000 pills.
