Israel thwarts first drugs smuggling from Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli authorities arrested on Wednesday two Syrians trying to smuggle hashish near the town of Druz, in Majdal Shams, north of Golan, southern Syria.

The Times of Israel reported that soldiers of Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had arrested the two men, aged 30 and 33, as 21 kg of hashish were in their possession.

This is the first drugs smuggling attempt from Syria to be thwarted by Israel as the latter always announces the arrest of Syrians while trying to cross the border into Israel.

IDF announced On Jan. 17 the arrest of five individuals on the border between Syria and Israel a day earlier.
