Iraq confirms receiving 206 ISIS juveniles from SDF
ERBIL, Iraq, KRI (North Press) – Iraq’s Joint Operations Command told North Press on Monday that Iraq has received from Syria 206 juveniles, who belong to the Islamic State Organization (ISIS).
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has recently handed over 50 members of ISIS to Iraq through Rabia (al-Ya’rubiyah) border crossing in Nineveh Governorate, the Security Media Cell announced in early June.
Speaking of a new batch on Sunday, Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, spokesman for Iraq’s Joint Operation Command, confirmed, in a statement to North Press, news Iraqi outlets circulated that SDF handed over 206 individuals belonging to ISIS.
He briefly said, via WhatsApp, “Yes, it is right,” without disclosing more details.
The juveniles were handed over to Director-general for intelligence and counterterrorism in Nineveh Governorate, according to al-Sabah Newspaper
These Iraqi individuals, who were detained by the SDF, were arrested during the few past years during military campaigns against ISIS in vast areas in northeast Syria.
