AANES Social Contract resumes work in Syria’s Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The fourth session of the expanded committee for drafting the Social Contract of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) continued for the second day Saturday.
The Democratic Union Party (PYD) headquarter in the city of Hasakah hosted the two-day fourth session which kicked off on Friday.
157 representatives of the AANES, political and human rights figures, delegates of the civil society institutions, and tribal and social personalities participated in the meeting.
Today, the few last articles of the Social Contract and some unresolved details from previous sessions have been discussed.
The sessions resumed on January 18 and 19 in Hasakah but were suspended due to bad weather conditions.
In December 2021, the expanded committee convened its first meetings which lasted for three days during which around 30% of the draft of the Social Contract was discussed and amended.
In July 2021, a small committee of 30 members was formed tasked with drafting the Social Contract which will be considered as a constitution to regulate the political, economy and social work of the AANES. As soon the small body completed its agendas, the extended committee resumed work.
