Coalition allowed Turkey to bomb northeast Syria, SDF

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Global Coalition opened the airspace for Turkey to bomb northeast Syria, the Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The statement came regarding the recent Turkish attack on the Derik countryside in the far northeast Syria.

After Turkey failed to achieve its goal, the Global Coalition opened the air to it, and on the first of February, at around ten o’clock in the evening, the Turkish aircraft carried out air raids on the power station in Tel Kendal near the village of Teql Beql in the Derik region, said the statement.

Turkey’s attacks were not carried out without the knowledge of the Global Coalition forces, and as result, Turkey seeks, through the silence of the Global Coalition, to legitimize its attacks,” the statement added.

The large-scale attacks of ISIS cells on al-Sina’a prison in Hasakah’s Guweiran neighborhood, were planned and directly supported by Turkey, according to the statement.

However, the SDF thwarted those attacks. Now, in order for Turkey to make gains from ISIS attacks and create chaos in northeast Syria, it started to bomb Tel Tamr, Ain Issa and other areas, “but our forces failed these attacks as well”.

“As Syrian Democratic Forces, we will not stand idly by and will not remain silent in the face of these attacks, and the occupying power will be held accountable for this blatant attack,” the SDF statement noted.
