DERIK, Syria (North Press) – After being suspended for more than a month, the transit movement between northeast Syria and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRG) returned through the Semalka-Faysh Khabur crossing on Monday.
North Press correspondent recognized from a source in the Relations Office at Semalka Crossing that the crossing was opened for commercial traffic.
It will also be opened for stranded people in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and holders of Iraqi and foreign residencies in the Autonomous Administration areas in northeast Syria, according to the source.
Since 16 December 2021, the management of the Faysh Khabur border crossing in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq has suspended the movement of transit and trade with the Autonomous Administration areas in northeast Syria.
It is not yet known if there are new transit procedures imposed on the movement.
