Targeting al-Kadhimi is serious violation and heinous crime: Barham Salih

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, Barham Salih, the Iraqi president stressed that targeting the Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi is a serious violation and a heinous crime against Iraq.  

In the early hours of Sunday, a drone loaded with explosives targeted the house of the PM Mustafa al-Kadhimi.

The Iraqi army said the attack was an assassination attempt but al-Kadhimi could survive unhurt.

“Thank God, I am fine and among my people,” al-Kadhimi tweeted.

“We do not accept Iraq to be dragged into chaos or coup against the constitutional system. We call to the unity of attitude in order to confront the criminals conspiring against Iraq’s security and safety of its own people,” Salih tweeted.

Mustafa al-Kadhimi was incumbent as a PM in May 2020 after Adil Abdul-Mahdi resigned.
