Russian Defense monitors 28 bombings by HTS in Syria’s Idlib
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria announced the recording of 28 bombings by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) in the de-escalation zone in Idlib, northwest Syria.
“The militants of al-Nusra Front carried out 14 bombing operations in Idlib, 10 in Latakia and two each in Aleppo and Hama,” the statement of the Reconciliation Center said.
Moreover, “6 bombing operations by pro-Turkish armed factions were recorded in Tel Rifa’at in the countryside of Aleppo.”
“The Russian Military Police conducted patrols in two paths in Manbij in the countryside of Aleppo. In addition, Russian vehicles also escorted civilian transportation on the M4 Highway from Ain Issa to Tel Tamr,” the statement referred.
The statement stressed “the continuation of work aimed at a peaceful settlement of the conflict and help the Syrians to return to the peaceful life.”
“The Russian forces that are fighting extremist organizations in Syria contributed to preventing the emergence of extremist organizations worse that Taliban,” said Deputy Defense Minister Andrey Kartapolov, on Friday.
“Syria has survived as a state thanks to the anti-terror operations of the Russian forces,” Kartapolov pointed out in an interview with a radio program.
“Without the Russian forces, ISIS, which is worse than the Taliban in Afghanistan, would still be alive now.”
“The Russian Defense Ministry does not rule out that Syria may become a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in the future.”
