Syria’s AANES cancels decision to raise fuel prices after people’s demands
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The cancellation of the decision to raise fuel prices came in response to popular demands in the areas administered by the AANES in north and east Syria, Abd Hamid al-Mehbash, co-chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), said on Wednesday.
The AANES reviewed the decision and decided to keep the previous prices until a new price list is reached that suits the economic situation of the population, he added.
Today, the Autonomous Administration canceled the Resolution 119 to raise fuel prices, after popular reactions in the Autonomous Administration regions.
On May 17, the Autonomous Administration’s Executive Council issued Resolution 119, by which it raised the prices of many fuel items; the price of super grade gasoline rose from 210 to 410 Syrian pounds (SYP), the price of imported premium gasoline rose from 1,350 SYP to 1,950 SYP, and a household propane tank rose from 3,000 to 8,000 SYP.
