SDF commander Mazloum Abdi declares integration complete

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – General Mazloum Abdi announced on Thursday that the military and security integration into Syrian state institutions had been completed during an event marking the centenary of Qamishli.

He added that “their political struggle will continue” to ensure the rights of the Kurdish people in the Syrian Constitution.

“We are confident that the new Syria will be free of chauvinistic policies and that the identity of all the peoples of the northeast of Syria will be preserved,” Abdi said in a speech at the event.

“In the new Syria, children will learn and speak in their languages,” he added.

Abdi said the region’s communities had maintained their presence in the face of fierce attacks, adding that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) had protected the region for 15 years.

He also said all Kurdish forces that had previously assisted them had withdrawn from the region, calling on residents to support and protect the official institutions resulting from the integration.
