Government forces target opposition posts in Syria’s Hama

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Syrian government forces shelled Syrian opposition posts in west Hama governorate with surface-to-surface missiles, coinciding with intensive ground bombardment on opposition posts in villages south of Idlib.

Syrian government forces targeted the opposition’s posts in the village of al-Enkawi in Ghab Plain, west Hama, with high-explosive surface-to-surface missiles, causing massive damage to public and private property, field sources told North Press.

The government shelling took place hours after the opposition groups managed to foil an infiltration attempt by the government forces and Russian troops into al-Enkawi, the sources added.

Meanwhile, the government forces continued their intensive artillery and missile shelling on the opposition groups’ fortifications on villages and towns of Zawiya Mountain, south Idlib, that has been witnessing military escalation for a month.

Syrian government forces targeted the opposition groups’ sites on the outskirts of Kafr Aweed town and the villages of Hantoteen, Sarjah, and Benin, south Idlib, with more than 200 artillery shells, field sources told North Press.

Government forces the opposition’s sites in the village of San, east Idlib, from their positions in south Idlib, reporting no human losses.

The areas of northwest Syria are included in the ceasefire agreement signed by Turkey and Russia last March after a military campaign in the region.
