IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday-Tuesday night, Turkish-backed armed opposition groups foiled Syrian government and Russian forces’ attempts to advance in Ghab Plain, west of Hama.
The Syrian forces’ attempts to advance come in conjunction with the military escalation that the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria has been witnessing.
A military source from the opposition’s National Front for Liberation told North Press that the Fateh al-Mubin Operation Room managed to thwart an infiltration attempt by Syrian forces on the al-Ankawi front in Ghab Plain.
Clashes erupted between groups of the government forces and the armed groups, resulting in causalities among both sides, according to the source.
The government forces have not made any advance, the soured added.
On Sunday, armed groups thwarted an attempt by the government forces to advance of on the same front and forced them to withdraw to their positions.
