HAWL, Syria (North Press) – Lateon Thursday, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) found a body of an Iraqi refugee woman killed by unknown individuals in Hawl Camp, east Hasakah.
Iraqi refugee Maryam Ahmed Makehol sustained several shots in the head and the chest in the first sector of the camp, a security source from the camp told North Press on Friday.
This killing incident is the fourth since early March following the killing of three Iraqi refugees by unknown.
According to the source, accusations are pointed at Islamic State (ISIS) militants.
The Hawl Camp that is run by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has been witnessing an increase in violent acts since early 2021, reporting 30 killings and ten attempted murders.
It is worth mentioning that the killing incidents in Hawl Camp mostly target Iraqi refugees, who make up the majority of the camp’s population at around 30,606 individuals, according to the camp’s administration’s statistics.
