IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the Turkish forces and the armed opposition groups targeted positions of the Syrian government forces in Idlib, northwest Syria.
“The Turkish forces stationed in the vicinity of the town of Sarmin, southeast of Idlib, targeted positions of the government forces in the city of Saraqib, east of Idlib, with ground-to-ground missiles,” opposition military sources told North Press.
“The al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room targeted government forces’ sites in Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery shells,” the sources added.
The groups also targeted government forces’ positions in the village of Jobas, south of Saraqib.
Although the ceasefire between Russia and Turkey has been in place since March 2020, the region is witnessing a military escalation and mutual bombardment between the government forces and the opposition groups.
