Russian forces patrol Derik countryside

DERIK, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, Russian Military Police conducted a military patrol in the countryside of Derik, in Syria’s northeast.

Local sources from the village of Ain Dewar in the city’s northern countryside told North Press that the patrol consisted of five military vehicles, accompanied by two helicopters to provide air cover.

The source added that the patrol arrived at the village and headed towards the Roman Bridge on the Turkish border.

Over the past few months, Russian forces have made multiple attempts to station in the Derik countryside, but have been faced with protests from local residents.

Last Wednesday, Russian forces conducted a patrol consisting of four armored vehicles and two helicopters in the Derik countryside. The forces normally conduct bi-weekly patrols, with no information on their importance and purpose.
