Israel warns Turkey over military presence in Syria

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz on Thursday said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is dragging Turkey into “dangerous adventures in Syria.”

Katz stressed in a post on X that “Israel will not allow any entity to threaten its security.”

“It is preferable for Erdogan to continue delivering empty, delusional speeches against Israel in the Turkish parliament rather than testing Israel’s resolve to defend itself.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also said Israel had warned Syria before the strike against allowing a Turkish presence at the base.

Netanyahu added that the message was very clear, but Turkey did not fully understand the message.

Turkey on Wednesday strongly rejected what it described as “claims” by Israel regarding Ankara’s military presence in Syria, after Israel struck Abu al-Duhur military airbase near the Turkish border, claiming that Syria was on the verge of allowing Turkish forces to deploy there.

On Wednesday, U.S. State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said talks were continuing with Israel, Turkey and Syria to ease tensions.
