ISIS claimed responsibility for assassinating SDF fighters in Syria’s Deir ez-ZOR
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the Islamic State organization (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the assassination of two fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), whom they targeted with an IED in al-Busayrah, east of Deir ez-Zor on Sunday.
A military source preferred not to be named, told North Press that unidentified persons targeted a military vehicle of a leader of the Deir ez-Zor Military Council which led to the death of two and the wounding of six others.
The IED was planted on the edge of the main road in al-Busayrah, according to the source.
On Sunday, an SDF fighter was killed and others were wounded due to an attack carried out by unidentified persons with medium weapons in al-Busayrah.
On February 13, unidentified gunmen opened fire on an SDF member in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, wounding him.
Since the beginning of February, Deir ez-Zor countryside has witnessed attempts to target SDF members, despite the tightened security of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish).
The eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor is witnessing assassinations of members of SDF, employees of the Autonomous Administration, and tribal leaders, amid tight security by the SDF.
