Turkish vehicle targeted by unknown group in northwest Syria

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, unknown persons targeted a Turkish armored vehicle on the Idlib – Bab al-Hawa road in northwestern Syria one day after a similar attack in the same area.

The region witnessed more than one attack on Turkish observation posts and military vehicles in late 2020 and early 2021, which resulted in casualties among Turkish ranks.

Sources told North Press that unknown assailants targeted the Turkish forces an RPG rocket launcher as their convoy travelled down the road between Idlib and Bab al-Hawa crossing, near the town of Kafraya, northeast of Idlib.

No casualties were reported among Turkish forces.

No party has claimed responsibility for the operation, and no statement has been issued by the Turkish forces to comment on the incident.

Early this month, unidentified persons targeted guard posts at the Turkish base near the town of Ram Hamdan, north of Idlib, with a guided missile, wounding a Turkish soldier.
