Casualties due to car bomb in Syria’s Turkish-occupied Sere Kaniye
AZAZ, Syria (North Press) – Three members of the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups were killed and others injured in a car bomb on Friday, near the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), north of Hasakah, northeastern Syria.
A field source told North Press that the explosion occurred at a checkpoint of the opposition groups in the vicinity of the village of Tal al-Janab near the town of Mabrouka in the countryside of Sere Kaniye.
The source added that the explosion caused the killing of three members of the opposition groups and the injury of two others, as a preliminary toll, in addition to extensive damage at the site of the explosion.
On November 2, an IED detonated in al-Jawza roundabout in the city center of Sere Kaniye, injuring two civilians and caused material damage to the surrounding area.
Turkish military forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition groups took control of the cities of Sere Kaniye and Tel Abyad and their surrounding countrysides in October of 2019. Since this time, residents in the region have reported complete security chaos and many human rights abuses, including theft, looting, assault, kidnapping and murder.
