SDF arrests member of ISIS who works to smuggle families and leaders
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested on Sunday, a member of ISIS, who smuggled families and leaders of ISIS in the countryside of Syria’s Deir ez-Zor.
A military source told North Press that the operation was carried out by special units of the SDF, with air support from the US-led Global Coalition, in Jadeed Ekedat area in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
The SDF in cooperation with the Global Coalition, increased the pace of their security operations against ISIS cells three months ago, after the activity of the cells increased and they carried out assassinations and bombings.
Last Monday, SDF arrested five members of ISIS, who were responsible for the assassinations in the city of al-Busayrah, which are carried out by means of motorcycles and explosive devices.
SDF announced on November 7, the arrest of three members of an ISIS sleeper cell in the town of Baghouz in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
Last month, the Kurdish-led Internal Security Forces [Asayish], in cooperation with SDF, thwarted an escape attempt in which a group of women from ISIS families tried to flee with their children from Hawl Camp, east of Syria’s Hasakah.
