the Counter-Terrorism Units of the Syrian Democratic Forces have arrested two ISIS sleeper cell members early this morning in the city of Manbij in northern Syria.
Special sources inside SDF told North-Press that Counter-Terrorism Units had carried out a security operation in the village of Jeb al-Ashra, in the countryside of Manbij, two brothers Muhammad al-Hawash and Ahmad al-Hawash were captured in the operation, noting that Muhammad was a former member in ISIS “suicidal” forces, as he took part in several battles, and worked as a dealer to secure weapons for ISIS with the help of his brother Ahmad.
The sources added: “After the liberation of the city of Manbij, al-Hawash had moved to areas under the control of the Syrian government where he stayed there in contact with ISIS, while he had recently moved to Manbij, keeping his communications with ISIS leaders”.
Several areas in the north and eastern Syria have recently witnessed suicidal and IED attacks, some of which were organized by the Islamic State, resulting in civilian and military casualties.
It’s noteworthy that Counter-Terrorism Units that belong to the Internal Security Forces in north and east Syria captured an ISIS sleeper cell leader in the city of Raqqa, the night before yesterday.
Special sources stated to North-Press that the arrested ISIS member is called Ali al-Hussein, he was leading a sleeper cell that was planning to carry out assassinations and bombings in the city of Raqqa.
