Islamic State kill elements of government forces in a new attack in the Syrian Desert

The areas of influence of the Syrian government forces, in the Syrian Badia, within the governorate of Homs, witnessed a new attack by Islamic State militants, (IS).
The attack took place during the last 24 hours, targeting sites for government forces and its allied forces in the area of al-Mahatta al-Thaltha , to the east of the city of Palmyra in the eastern side of Homs governorate, followed by heavy fighting between the two sides in areas west of the Euphrates River in eastern Syria.
As the attack resulted in the kill three elements of the government forces, with information about killing of IS militants, where the area witnesses attacks by Islamic State group occasionally, of which the group is nearby, in a large enclave area of about 4,000 square kilometers, north of Palmyra.
According to opposition media sources, the clashes were in the town of Al Mayadin in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, during the last hours of the night, as a result of the attack by militants of ISIS on sites in the region.
Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that eight members of the government forces and its allied forces were killed, while 4 other elements of IS were killed and about 25 were injured in these clashes, in which the Syrian Air Force participated through targeting Islamic State’s sites in coincidence with ground bombardment in the area.
