Semalka border crossing granting European passport holders to enter northeastern Syria

On Monday, the administration of the Semalka border crossing allowed travelers with European passports coming from Kurdistan Region of Iraq to enter the areas of northeastern Syria.

 

Baz Ahmad, the director of relations at Semalka crossing, told North-Press that they would make exceptions for the European passport holder visitors to cross into northeastern Syria on Sunday and Monday. “It is not clear whether or not the crossing will be open tomorrow either," he added.

 

Earlier, the joint Presidency of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration in North and Eastern Syria decided to close Semalka border crossing with Kurdistan Region, starting from March 1, as a precautionary measure to prevent the transmission of coronavirus into the areas of northeastern Syria.
