Syrian government forces violate the ceasefire and target a Turkish military post in Idlib

On Monday, the Syrian government forces artillery targeted areas in Idlib and Aleppo countrysides in north-west of Syria, amid a response by the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups with missiles on the positions of the Syrian government forces.

A field source said to North-Press: "The Syrian government forces targeted a Turkish observation post in the vicinity of al-Mastumah camp in the southern countryside of Idlib with artillery shelling.

The source added that the Syrian government artillery bombed the areas of (al-Muqbila, Qaminas, al-Nairab and Sarmin) in the southern and eastern Idlib countryside, and the locations of the armed opposition groups in Darat Izza in the western countryside of Aleppo with missiles.

In response, the Turkish forces retaliated by bombing the positions of the Syrian government forces, without any information regarding casualties, according to the source.

Today on Monday, a Turkish convoy consisting of fifty military vehicles including artillery and military equipment, crossed Kafr Lossin border point in northern Idlib, and headed towards the Turkish observation posts in the region.

In a related context, a Russian-Turkish military delegations meeting is scheduled to be held in  Ankara, on Tuesday, to follow up the ceasefire agreement in Idlib.

On Monday, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced in a statement that a meeting between the Russian and Turkish presidents was held within the ceasefire agreement on the 5th of March in Moscow regarding Idlib.
