A suicide bombing targeting SDF in eastern Deir ez-Zor

A member of the "Self-Defense Forces" – which are under the banner of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) – lost his life and others injured, including civilians, as a result of a suicide bombing on Wednesday, in the town of al-Shaafa, east of Deir ez-Zor.

 

The attack took place on Wednesday afternoon, after a suicide bomber blew himself with a military vehicle of the "Self-Defense Forces" in the town of al-Shaafa, in the eastern countryside of of Deir ez-Zor, northeastern Syria, a member of the "Self-Defense Forces" lost his life, and 5 others were injured, including 3 civilians.

 

The suicidal attack occurred hours after the SDF conducted an airdrop operation accompanied by a force from the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS in the town of al-Shuhail, at dawn on Wednesday, northeast of the city of Deir ez-Zor, during which the combined forces arrested 5 people.

 

On Tuesday, the SDF announced the arrest of a sleeper cell composed of 8 members of the Islamic State terrorist group (ISIS) in the town of al-Busaira, the ISIS sleeper cell was responsible for the bombings attacks in the region.

 

The rate of bombings has recently increased in various areas of Deir ez-Zor, in the East of Euphrates, the latest of which were 6 explosions that took place by various means 3 days ago, with the approaching of the first anniversary of eliminating ISIS caliphate in the town of al-Baghouz, its last stronghold in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
