Dozens of coronavirus cases confirmed in northeast Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Health Authority of Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria announced on Thursday that the number of coronavirus infections reached 54 cases since the outbreak of the pandemic last week.

Juwan Mustafa, head of Health Authority, said four new coronavirus cases confirmed in the last twenty-four hours, bringing the number to 54 cases.

Mustafa said that the four cases were northern Aleppo countryside, including two in Tel Rifaat town, one in Kafer Naya village and one in Ahras village.

He further explained that the cases included three women and a man.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic last week, one died in Ahras village in northern Aleppo countryside.

One case has recovered  in the country’s northeastern Qamishli city.

The Autonomous Administration imposed a total lockdown starting on Thursday in the region it controls as a measure to stop the spread of the pandemic.
