Autonomous Administration in N/E Syria to impose complete curfew in Jazira region

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A medical official in the Autonomous Administration northeast Syria said on Tuesday that the Crisis Management Team is about to impose a complete curfew in the Jazira Region.

Within ten days, the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria recorded 28 infections with coronavirus, the last of which was five infections in Hasakah on Sunday. This is after its areas were free of the virus within months of its breakout in neighboring countries and the Syrian capital, Damascus.

The Health Committee spokeswoman in Qamishli Rojin Ahmad told North Press that "the increasing number of infections requires us to impose a complete curfew."

Ahmed added that many suspicion cases are daily reported to them, and that the PCR examination will be conducted for ten suspected cases today or tomorrow to determine whether they are infected or not.

Although the Autonomous Administration banned gatherings, cities and towns of Jazira witnessed many violations during Eid al-Adha days, increasing fears of the coronavirus spread in the light of the lack of medical capabilities, as the number of artificial respirators does not exceed 30, according to previous statements by administration officials.
