The Health Directorate of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, in cooperation with the people's municipalities in the city of Hasakah, began a sterilization campaign for buildings and institutions of the Autonomous Administration on Monday, as part of the precautionary measures to prevent the outbreak of coronavirus.

 

The sterilization campaign started with the General Council of Hasakah region (an administrative division that includes the city of Hasakah and its countryside) and will include all public institutions and facilities, in addition to the distribution of gloves and medical masks to employees.

 

Siham Mulla Ali, the spokesperson for the Emergency Committee in the Health Directorate, told North-Press that the sterilization campaign is the first step in the framework of coronavirus prevention, in addition to equipping medical points in hospitals in the region.

 

She explained that they have opened a quarantine center in Hasakah to receive cases or suspected cases of coronavirus infection, noting that the possibilities of treatment are limited and they are currently "in coordination with humanitarian organizations and health workers to provide assistance in the event of any occurrence of this epidemic."

 

"We have formed a medical team, whose mission is to educate people on the prevention of the virus, organize lectures, and distribute educational brochures," she added.

 

The Health Authority of the Autonomous Administration, in coordination with municipalities of cities and towns in al-Jazira region, began a sterilization campaign of public institutions and facilities.

 

The Autonomous Administration also announced on Sunday the suspension of all official departments, universities, and schools, in addition to the cancellation of all gatherings and the closing of border crossings in the framework of precautionary measures to confront coronavirus and prevent its spread in the region.
