Deir ez-Zor – North-Press
A landmine explosion was reported in the Syrian government-controlled area, in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor causing casualties, most of them children.
seven children were killed in the explosion which was caused by a landmine from the remnants of the military operations between ISIS and the governmental forces.
According to information obtained by the North-Press, the seven children belong to two families, and the mine was exploded near the town of al-Asharah in the western bank of the Euphrates River.
Since the Syrian government and allied forces took control of the entire western territories of the Euphrates in late 2017, there have been many landmine explosions, that have so far killed and injured hundreds of residents of the region.
While various areas in the west of Euphrates have witnessed sporadic attacks and varying violence by ISIS sleeper cells scattered in different areas of Deir ez-Zor and al-Badiya, killing and injuring hundreds of members of both the Syrian government and ISIS.
