Joe Biden vows to protect the Syrian Kurds in case he wins the U.S. presidential elections

Joe Biden, the former U.S. Vice President and the leading candidate for the Democratic presidential elections has said that he will protect the Kurds in Syria if he wins the elections.

Biden confirmed that he will keep 1,000 American troops in Syria, and would provide them with air coverage with the Kurdish forces and will do "everything to protect the Kurds who sacrificed their lives in the war against ISIS."

Biden's statements came after he won in four U.S. states in the Democratic primary elections in Super Tuesday, as he came closer than ever to represent the Democrats in the 2020 elections, to compete with the current President Donald Trump.

Regarding the situation in Syria, Biden's view is remarkably different from President Trump's, where this was clear in his statement. He said that “the problem of Syria lies in the allies of the United States, like Turkey, which has pushed thousands of foreign fighters, including those affiliated with al Qaeda, to do everything to bring down the Assad (Syrian) regime, which did not succeed, and turned into chaos and destruction that led to the spread of the Islamic State into the world.”

Biden also said in recent presidential debates that he would not have taken the U.S. troops out of Syria, or the remaining ones in Iraq, describing what President Trump had done in Syria as "the most disgraceful act an American president has ever done in the history of the United States."

Moreover, Biden promises to abolish the Trump administration's travel ban on many Muslim-majority countries, including Syria and Iraq, and this is something that may not be the only difference which Biden's victory in the U.S. elections would make, regarding the countries and people of the Islamic world.
