Tal Abyad – North-Press Agency

The local people of the town of Tal Abyad/Gire Spi on the Syrian-Turkish borders, northern Syria have gathered to protest the recent Turkish military threats against the region.

The residents stressed on the unity of the components of the region against any Turkish attacks targeting their regions.

The Turkish military mobilizations continued over last week on the Syrian-Turkish borders adjacent to northeastern Syrian territories, including reinforcements of heavy weapons and increasing numbers of soldiers, as well as digging trenches.

North-Press talked to people protesting the Turkish threats, where Ahmad Samow, a resident of Tal Abyad, has condemned the Turkish threats against their regions, accusing Turkey of trying to destabilize the security and stability in northern and eastern Syria.

Samow called on the international community to intervene to stop the Turkish attacks, stressing that the components of the region stand together against any aggression, appealing the international coalition to protect them.

In his turn, Fawaz Al-Ali, a resident of Tal Abyad, said that they will not accept the “occupation of Turkey” as in Afrin, adding that the Turkish threats continue, “and it regularly attacks Syrian citizens in the border areas”.

Al-Ali pointed out that “Syria’s Democratic Forces are our sons and they will protect the region and we will not accept the Turkish presence in the safe zone,” while demanding the Global coalition not to allow Turkey to attack them.

It’s noteworthy that several regions and towns in northeastern Syria have witnessed demonstrations and sit-ins following Turkey’s recent threats to invade the areas of northeastern Syria.
