Syria’s presidential team spokesperson inspects Qamishli-Nusaybin border crossing
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Ahmad al-Hilali, deputy governor of Hasakah and spokesperson for the presidential team overseeing the implementation of the agreement with the SDF, inspected on Sunday ongoing preparations at the Qamishli-Nusaybin border crossing.
According to the Hasakah Media Directorate, al-Hilali, accompanied by Hamoud al-Hamoud, director of the Semalka border crossing, toured the site to review ongoing work.
The delegation reviewed preparations that included mine clearance, site cleaning, and engineering surveys under the supervision of the Border Crossings and Ports Authority, in preparation for completing the technical and logistical requirements needed to operate the crossing.
Al-Hilali told the Hasakah Media Directorate that the Nusaybin crossing represents a strategic project for Hasakah Governorate.
He said that the crossing is expected to boost trade, transport, and transit movement between Turkey and Iraq through Syrian territory, while contributing to economic activity in the region.
Preparatory work at the site is ongoing to complete the remaining technical and administrative procedures ahead of its opening and launch of operations once all necessary requirements are met, ensuring the crossing is ready in accordance with approved standards.
