Syria says it foiled Captagon smuggling attempt from Lebanon

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Syria’s Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday that it had foiled an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of narcotics from Lebanon into Syria, arresting one suspect and seizing hundreds of thousands of Captagon pills.

In a statement published on its official platforms, the ministry’s Anti-Narcotics Department said the operation followed what it described as “careful monitoring and security surveillance.”

According to the statement, authorities arrested a suspect identified by the initials H.K. and confiscated 832,000 Captagon pills during the operation.

The ministry said the necessary legal procedures had been completed and that the suspect, along with the seized narcotics, had been referred to the competent judicial authorities to complete legal proceedings.

Captagon trafficking has remained a major security concern in Syria and neighboring countries, with authorities periodically announcing the seizure of shipments allegedly intended for cross-border smuggling.
