Marco Rubio announces end of Tom Barrack’s role as US Envoy to Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Saturday that Tom Barrack has concluded his role as the United States’ Special Envoy to Syria.
In a post on X, Rubio said that Barrack “will continue to play a leading role for the Trump Administration in both Syria and Iraq.”
Rubio praised Barrack’s contributions, describing his service as “invaluable.”
He added that Barrack’s “expertise, relationships, and understanding of the America First agenda will continue to deliver wins on behalf of our great country.”
Barrack previously held senior positions during the administrations of former US President Ronald Reagan and President Donald Trump. He was appointed US ambassador to Turkey in May 2025 before later being named special envoy to Syria.
