Turkish FM Fidan arrives in Damascus for trilateral talks

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan arrived on Sunday in the Syrian capital, Damascus, to take part in a trilateral meeting with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to Turkish media reports.

Fidan was received at Damascus International Airport by Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani, marking a high-level diplomatic visit amid ongoing regional developments.

Turkish media outlets reported that the trilateral meeting will focus on addressing threats facing Syrian security, as well as the broader impact of regional conflicts on the country. Discussions are also expected to cover several regional issues, particularly the situation in Lebanon.

The reports added that the talks will include an evaluation of progress related to the integration of northeast Syria into the central government, within the framework of agreements reached on January 17 and 29.
