Syrian presidential envoy, SDF chief discuss integration into state institutions

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A Syrian presidential envoy met on Saturday with the General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, in the city of Hasakah to discuss ongoing efforts to integrate SDF forces into state institutions, alongside other key files.

According to the Media Directorate of Hasakah, the meeting included Brig. Gen. Ziad al-Ayesh, the presidential envoy, and Abbas Hussein, the director of political affairs in the province.

During the talks, the two sides addressed several issues, including “working on releasing a batch of detainees” and “discussing a mechanism for handing over SDF prisons to the state,” as stated by the directorate.

The discussions also covered “securing the return of displaced people to their villages in western Tal Abyad countryside in Raqqa, Afrin, and Hasakah,” the statement added.

The meeting is part of ongoing efforts to address outstanding issues and “enhance stability in the region,” according to the same source.
