Israeli forces detain two civilians in Quneitra countryside
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces detained on Fridays two civilians after setting up an unexpected checkpoint between the villages of al-Ajraf and Umm Batna in the central countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria, local sources told North Press.
According to the sources, an Israeli patrol established the checkpoint in the area separating the two villages and stopped several passersby before taking two civilians across the disengagement line into the occupied Syrian Golan. The identities of the detainees were not immediately disclosed.
The incident occurred only hours after another Israeli patrol, consisting of eight military vehicles, crossed into Syrian territory from the Adnaneya point. The patrol moved through several villages in rural Quneitra, including Umm al-Azham, Ruwayhina, Rasm al-Halabi, al-Mushirfa, and Umm Batna.
Local residents reported that Israeli soldiers carried out search and surveillance operations in the outskirts of these villages. Witnesses said the patrol remained in some areas for extended periods, inspecting agricultural lands and roads before gradually withdrawing toward the disengagement line.
