Deputy Deen of Aleppo University assassinated outside his clinic

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – The Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Aleppo University and head of the Pulmonology Department, Dr. Basel Zino, was assassinated on Tuesday by unidentified gunmen outside his private clinic in Aleppo’s al-Jamiliya neighborhood.

Local sources told North Press that the attackers opened fire on Dr. Zino in front of his clinic, killing him instantly before fleeing the scene.

Dr. Zino was regarded as one of Syria’s leading specialists in pulmonary diseases and held several prominent academic positions within the Faculty of Medicine.

As of Tuesday evening, neither the Syrian government nor its security agencies had issued any official statement regarding the incident. Investigations into the identity of the perpetrators and the motive behind the assassination remain ongoing.

The killing has stirred shock within the local community and academic circles, given Dr. Zino’s stature in the medical field.
