Landmine blast kills young man in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A young man was killed on Thursday after succumbing to injuries caused by a landmine explosion in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A local source told North Press that the victim, identified as Abd al-Hamoud, was severely wounded in the blast in the desert of al-Masrab town earlier in the day and later died from his injuries.
The source added that landmines and other remnants of war scattered across the region continue to endanger residents’ lives, with casualties reported on a regular basis.
On Aug. 25, a woman from the town of al-Heri lost her life in a similar explosion.
Last week, another woman was killed and three others—including two children—were injured when a landmine detonated in a neighborhood of Deir ez-Zor city.
