Tanzania repatriates 4 citizens from ISIS families in Northeast Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced on Thursday that Tanzania has repatriated three children and a woman from families of the Islamic State (ISIS), under an official agreement signed between both sides.
According to the AANES Department of Foreign Relations, the co-chairs of the department received an official Tanzanian delegation on Aug. 18, led by Nasriya Mohammed Nasser, Commissioner at the Tanzanian Embassy in Cairo, accompanied by other officials. The meeting took place in northeast Syria.
The department said the two sides discussed efforts to counter the resurgence of extremist groups, particularly ISIS, as well as the rehabilitation of Hawl and Roj camps. The talks highlighted the importance of regional and international support to ensure progress on this issue.
“We thank the Autonomous Administration, the Syrian Democratic Forces, and all partners who contributed to the success of our mission in repatriating our citizens from ISIS families,” said Nasriya Mohammed Nasser, according to the AANES statement.
