Israel halts military operations in parts of Gaza for humanitarian reasons
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Israeli army announced on Sunday a temporary pause in military operations in three specific areas of the Gaza Strip, citing humanitarian reasons behind the decision.
According to the Israeli military, the suspension will take place daily in al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah, and Gaza city, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM local time, until further notice.
The Israeli military stated that this move comes as part of efforts to address the worsening hunger crisis in the Gaza Strip.
Israel’s public broadcaster, Kan, reported that a long-hour humanitarian truce was decided in response to growing international criticism over deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the enclave.
Meanwhile, Egyptian media outlets reported that humanitarian aid trucks began moving from Egypt into Gaza early Sunday morning.
The trucks, carrying food supplies and materials to help rehabilitate infrastructure, crossed through the Rafah border crossing, according to Egypt’s “Cairo” news channel.
Last week, over 100 humanitarian and human rights organizations called on governments worldwide to take immediate action to address the deepening hunger crisis in Gaza. Their demands included a permanent and unconditional ceasefire and the removal of all restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian aid.
