Iranian strike targeted Israeli hospital treating soldiers – Military expert
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Soroka Medical Center, targeted in Iran’s latest missile strike, is known for treating wounded Israeli soldier, a Jordanian military expert said on Thursday.
“Soroka Hospital, which came under direct fire today, provides care for injured Israeli military personnel. It is a primary medical facility for the armed forces,” Jalal al-Abadi told North Press.
Soroka Medical Center, the largest hospital in southern Israel, was struck by an Iranian missile on Thursday, resulting in injuries and structural damage.
Al-Abadi added, “It is possible that the hospital also functions as a command center for the Israeli military, which may have made it a strategic target.”
According to Israeli media reports, Iranian ballistic missiles struck several locations including Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, Holon, and Be’er-Sheva. One of the buildings at Soroka Hospital was destroyed in the attack, causing the leakage of hazardous materials and prompting an emergency evacuation of the facility and surrounding areas.
Israeli Channel 12 reported that Iran launched between 20 and 30 ballistic missiles along with a number of drones. Footage circulating online showed widespread destruction and multiple explosions at the targeted sites.
