Mazloum Abdi reaffirms commitment to unified Syria, stability

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, stated on Monday evening that his forces remain committed to building a future Syria that ensures the rights of all citizens.

In a post in Arabic language on X, Abdi emphasized, “During this critical period, we are working together to achieve a transition that reflects our people’s aspirations for justice and stability.”

He added, “Our commitment is to forge a better future that upholds the rights of all Syrians, fostering peace and dignity. This agreement presents a real opportunity to build a new Syria that embraces all its components and ensures good neighborly relations.”

The remarks followed the Syrian Presidency’s announcement on Monday that an agreement had been reached to integrate the SDF into Syrian state institutions.

An SDF source told North Press that there would be no changes in their mission to combat the Islamic State (ISIS), stressing that the discussions with Damascus focused on the return of displaced residents from Afrin, Sere Kaniye, and Tel Abyad.

The source further confirmed that in the coming period, joint operations between the SDF and the Syrian army will be launched against ISIS cells in the Syrian desert.
