SWEIDA, Syria (North Press) – A dialogue session titled “Syria After Assad – Toward an Effective Transitional Phase” was held Wednesday in the southern Syrian city of Sweida, bringing together legal, political, media, and civil society representatives from across the country.
Diverse Participation
According to a North Press correspondent, the event saw the participation of approximately 100 individuals, including legal and political experts, women’s rights advocates, and those interested in Syria’s constitutional future.
The session was organized by the De Facto dialogue platform, which aims to foster discussions on the country’s political and social transformation.
Topics of Discussion
The session was divided into two main themes:
- Mechanisms for Political Action and National Cooperation Under the Interim Government – Participants explored pathways for cohesive political efforts to navigate the complexities of Syria’s transitional phase.
- The Role of Civil Society and Activists in the Constitutional Process – The discussion highlighted the importance of grassroots organizations and active citizenship in shaping a democratic future for Syria.
Promoting Inclusive Dialogue
The organizers emphasized the importance of inclusive platforms for dialogue, ensuring that voices from various regions and backgrounds are represented in discussions about Syria’s future.
Attendees expressed optimism about the potential of such initiatives to contribute to a sustainable political solution and empower civil society’s role in governance and reconstruction.
As Syria continues to face political stagnation and humanitarian crises, events like this underscore the efforts of Syrians to imagine and advocate for a peaceful and democratic transition.
